Christmas can be joyful, but it can also be sad and indeed painful, for many Christmas can also invoke memories of bereavement, grief, illness, economic worries or loneliness. When the world seems wrapped up in tinsel how do we sing the Lord's Song in a strange land, at a time when the world tells us to be jolly and happy when that is teh last think we can or want to feel? The Blue Christmas reflects these Christmas Blues, it says its alright to be sad and to weighed under by the worries of the world. Life was not perfect for the Christ Child either, and so together we reflect through words and music, the sadness Christmas can bring too.
