Getting here

There has been a church on the site of St Wistan's Wigston Magna since soon after 1st June 849 when St Wistan was martyred at Wistow. Taking his body back to Repton (just to the South West of Derby) the royal family stopped at Wigston Magna over night later building a church to remember St Wistan.

St Wistan's is not a daughter church to All Saints neither has it ever been a separate parish church. St Wistan's is a royal peculiar but not of our present royal family but of the kings of Mercia.

St Wistan's spire can be seen from many miles and with that of All Saints leads to Wigston Magna's nick name of Wigston Two Steeples.
