Getting Married (The Sacrament of Holy Matrimony)

We would be delighted to welcome you to one of our churches for your wedding.

By law, in order to be married in one of our churches you will need to be a mixed gender couple with what is known as a "Qualifying Connection".

Recognised qualifying connections are:

*At least one of you lives within the Wigston Benefice

(i.e. you should live in Wigston Magna; South Wigston or the part of Glen Parva between St Thomas' and the railway bridge near Glen Parva Manor)

OR at least one of you:

· has at any time lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months or

· was baptised (Christened) in the parish or

· was prepared for confirmation in the parish or

· has at any time regularly gone to normal church services in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months

OR if one of your parents, at any time after you were born

· has lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months or

· has regularly gone to normal church services in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months

OR if one of your parents or grandparents

· was married in the parish

We regret that at the present time the law does not permit us to conduct same gender marriages. We hope that this will change with time; in the meantime if you are a same-sex couple who would like to involve God in the celebration of your marriage or Civil Partnership, please contact one of the clergy and we will be happy to explore how we might be able to help you.
