Do come and visit the church and join us at one of our services.
St Leonard's Church in Woore is part of the Benefice of St. Chad's, Norton-in-Hales and St. Leonard's, Woore with Aston and is situated in North Shropshire close to the borders of both Cheshire and Staffordshire - in fact 'Woore' means 'place of boundaries'!
Our Calling by God: “To reflect the openness, love, joy and life expressed in the grace of God given to us through our Lord Jesus Christ. In our Worship, Ministry and Mission we reach out with hope.”
There is a very committed core of members who continue to worship and serve within the church. There is a dedicated ministry to children and good links have been established with the primary school.
There is a heart to develop the life of the church in a contemporary setting. The main morning services all use Common Worship material.
The Parish Church, which was built in Victorian times, is open to visitors and for prayer daily. Its white plastered exterior gives a striking appearance. The simple, plain open interior seats approx 250 people. Toilet facilities were added in 2002 and there is a small utility area. The beautiful East window has recently been restored.
The village has a pre-school, county primary school, village hall, pubs, chapel and other facilities including a shop, post office and bakery; there are nurmerous community activities.
The church maintains strong and close links with the Methodist chapel opposite and a number of joint activities and services are held throughout the year. These include a United Remembrance Day service, United Songs of Praise, Lent Lunches, Christmas carols around the tree and Thursday Coffee Mornings. All of these events help the spirit of friendship, fellowship and family within the village Church life.
