On 7th August 2022, Rev. Nigel Clemas retired after 24 years serving our three parishes. The parishes of Whitmore, Maer and Chapel Chorlton wish him all the best in his retirement. The three churches entered a period of interregnum until our new incumbent - Revd. Peter Jones - was appointed on Thursday 13th June 2024. Please send any enquiries to Peter at [email protected].
St Mary and All Saints, Whitmore is a very attractive church just outside Newcastle under Lyme. It is on the A53 by the Mainwaring Arms, a traditional country pub, and the Whitmore Tearooms. Next to the church is Whitmore Hall, which on some occasions is open to the public.
There is a weekly service at 11.00am each Sunday. The Holy Communion Services are about an hour long with hymns and around 20 - 30 people attending. The Family Services are about 45 minutes long with about 30 - 40 attending. They are much more informal and we hope that children and adults of all ages will feel at home in them.
We serve refreshments after each Sunday service, and there is a children's area at the back of church with soft toys, colouring etc. which is always available to the children.
Each Tuesday at 9.30am there is a Tuesday Communion Service, 35 minutes long, and we usually have around 15 - 25 people. After the service, we go to the Whitmore Tearooms across the road for refreshments. See the notice sheet for more details.
There is also a weekly news-sheet with events and services in the churches and parishes which is emailed each Friday or Saturday, and copies are available in church.
There is also a Facebook Page 'Whitmore All Saints' where you can find information about our church and photos of our services and events.
The church is very popular for weddings - do contact us if you are considering having your wedding at the church.
