Lammas, also known as Lammas Day or "Loaf Mass," is celebrated on August 1st, marking a significant moment in the agricultural calendar.
This ancient festival is a time to give thanks for the first fruits of the harvest, particularly the wheat that has been gathered and baked into bread. As a rural community, we deeply resonate with the rhythms of the land and the blessings of the harvest season.
Lammas is an opportunity for us to come together in gratitude, recognizing the hard work of our farmers and the abundance that sustains us. It's a moment to reflect on the interconnections in our lives with the earth and each other, and to celebrate the provision of our daily bread.
As we gather for this Lammas service, let us offer our thanks to God for His bountiful gifts, and seek His continued blessing on our fields, our families, and our community. Everyone - and their dog - is most welcome.
