The Village Hall Committee currently has 6 members covering the posts of Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, Booking Secretary, Minutes Secretary, Parish Council Representative and Health & Safety Officer. We also have regular volunteers who run Coffee mornings and help to publicise events on social media. What does the Village Hall Committee do? The Committee ensures that all statutory and regular safety checks are completed In order for the Hall to ne hired out for a variety of uses. It ensures that regular maintenance is carried out and up-dates facilities and assets within the Hall. Liaison with regular hirers of the Hall is maintained. The Committee fundraises and also organises community events.
Regular Hirers of the Village Hall include groups that cater for all ages – playgroup, yoga, badminton (2 groups), table tennis, dance groups (for children and adults), palates and indoor bowls. Organisations from the Village and surrounding area also hire our Hall on a regular basis including U3A table tennis, Roger Parks, the Piano Man, WI, Soroptimists, St. Andrew’s church, Heart of Weston and the Moira Fund. One-off bookings are also a regular feature – celebrations of birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, wakes, christenings. Community Events/Fundraising The biggest event that the Committee organises is the Annual Summer Fete held on the second Saturday of June. This involves many volunteers from the Village helping to set up, run stalls and pack away at the end of the Event. Christmas Shopping Event – held in conjunction with the Parish Council’s Christmas Lights switch on, including a visit from Santa and stalls for all those Christmas presents needed. Coffee Mornings – a volunteer run event on the first and third Monday of the month (not on Bank Holidays). A popular morning offering a chance to catch-up with friends and neighbours, enjoy a coffee/tea and a slice of delicious cake. A lending library of books and jigsaws is also available. One-off events have also been organised including a performance from the Lichfield Garrick theatre, a musical evening with Roger Parks the Piano Man, (and the Piano Man will return on 4th October, 2025)
What Can You Do for Your Village Hall? New members for the Committee are needed. If you can spare some time to be involved in this valuable Community asset it would be greatly appreciated.
We desperately need help in up-dating the Village Hall website – if this is something you could support us with, please get in touch. Volunteers are needed to help with the organisation and running of the Summer Fete - in particular this year we need help with running the raffle, and manning the BBQ stall – a meeting will be announced shortly. Please do come along to the Annual General Meeting to be held on Monday, 28th April, 2025 at 7-00pm in the Village Hall.
