Village community as its finest was the story in recent weeks, as the long preparations came to a head in an explosion of activities. Every Tittensor organisation was involved and many, many people gave their time to ensure that everyone could participate in the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
The Newsletter covers several events but space means that not everything could be reported, so watch out for pictures and mentions in future issues.
As scarecrows appeared throughout the village, so too did dozens of crowns. Many of these were produced during a 'crown crafts' afternoon at St Luke's church hall, and several were 'modelled' on Friday night, 3rd June. That was the Royal Quiz Night at St Luke's, when plenty of teams occupied the church building in friendly competition. The building was full as the teams battled it out over royal questions. Quiz Master David Porter had the final say as pleas were made for answers to be accepted. David did say that he was surprised that one question did not get a single correct answer; that was when he asked, 'How many children did Queen Victoria have?' before adding, 'and you don't have to name all 9 of them!' What was the answer.....? 9!
I admit that did take me back to a radio quiz show from Liverpool many years ago, on local radio. A single question was asked of the caller, who then had to guess the answer, with more and more clues being given to the hapless contestant as their answers got ever crazier. The classic was when the following question was asked, 'What was the name of the ship in the film 'Mutiny on the Bounty'?' The caller was on the line for over thirty minutes and, in the end, as the studio audience and the hosts had hysterics, they had to be given the answer. 😂 So don't worry, Royal Quiz Night teams, you were great!
