Saint Chad’s, Hopwas
Charming village church tucked under Hopwas Hays Woods in the village of Hopwas. The church is of a ‘Swiss chalet’ design, which blends in beautifully with its Woodside location. The architect was John Douglas. The church replaced an earlier chapel, dedicated to St John, located on Hints Road in the village. This is now an enclosed grass area with some remaining gravestones. It was built around 1836. The current church of St Chad was consecrated in April 1881, having been instigated by the Vicar of Tamworth, Rev William McGregor in 1879. If you would like to know more about the history of Hopwas and St Chads or indeed about our church life and services etc (including joining into our weekly virtual service), do take a look at our website www.stchadhopwas.co.uk
