Hixon Remembers
On the 25th of September a memorial was unveiled close to the entrance of Hixon airfield industrial estate in memory of all those who served at RAF Hixon during the war.
The memorial was presented by the Airfields of Britain Conservation Trust who carried out a short unveiling ceremony which was attended by members of the village community as well as several RAF personnel and members of the Royal Air Force association.
As over a hundred people died while serving at RAF Hixon many of whom were from commonwealth countries it’s important that we as a village remember their sacrifices.
It is hoped that this memorial will be a lasting tribute to all those who served at RAF Hixon.
