Stowe WI on Tuesday 8th April.

Our March meeting was also our Annual Meeting where our President Kath and Secretary Judy gave a resume of last year’s events.

Our speaker for the March monthly meeting was John Wilson who gave us an insight into the Buddy Bag Foundation which was founded by Karen Williams in 2014. The Foundation have delivered 66081 Buddy Bags to children who have been removed from their home due to domestic violence. The Buddy Bags contain essential items and age appropriate gifts which are given on arrival at a refuge. Each bag contains a teddy bear. Knitted toys (teddy bears) and drawstring toiletry bags are made by individuals and organisations and donated to the Foundation. The Foundation is run entirely by volunteers which includes 375 brigades, 5805 volunteers and 358 women’s refuges. They received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2022. Joan gave the vote of thanks for a very interesting and thought provoking talk.

Next Meetings:  The next meeting will take place on Tuesday 8th April – our speaker’s topic will be The Coldest Place on Earth.

New members and guests are always welcome. We meet 2nd Tuesday of month at 7.30pm at Stowe Village Hall. Contact our president Kath Hopcroft on 01889 - 270516, or - Facebook Stowe WI .
