Stowe Village Produce Guild – Garden Guild
At our April meeting Diane Clement provided an instructive talk on how
to achieve a "Garden for All Seasons". The members learned about the
importance of understanding one's own garden to maximise it's potential
year-round and make good use of the more difficult parts, for example
areas of shade or damp conditions.
Suggestions were made around the use of layered planting to ensure
interest throughout the seasons, and using a mix of plants at home in
Mediterranean climates and those from Alpine meadows to best suit the
individual garden's conditions. Witch Hazel and bright coloured Hellebores
were recommended for shady spots to provide excitement through the
winter months, whereas Dactylorhiza (or Marsh Orchids) were prescribed
for the summer and Sanguinaria for the spring.
Our next meeting is at 7-30pm on Wednesday 20th May “Gardens of Sandon Hall” with Grant and Becki Doner
We meet at 7-30pm every third Wednesday of the month with guest speakers, competitions, refreshments and a sales table.
