Stowe Village Produce Guild – Garden Guild
Jeff Bates gave us a very interesting resume of Windsor Great Park and its environs in December. He has a great love of the place having worked there when a late teenager. Showing beautiful photographs he guided us along the avenues, one where limes and chestnuts now replace elms and the Canadian avenue which displays a huge totem pole erected in 1960.
He then took us into the Valley Garden initially planted and designed by Eric Saville in 1780. The shrubs and colour are amazing and the best time to visit is the last weekend in April – though climate change may affect this suggestion. Our Annual Social held on Saturday 17th January offered the usual good food and excellent company and fun for all.
Our next meeting is at 7-30pm on Wednesday 18th February when we have our AGM and our bulb show / competition - also a guaranteed interesting surprise talk!
We meet at 7-30pm every third Wednesday of the month with guest speakers, competitions, refreshments and a sales table.
Visitors are always welcome.
