All Saints’ Church, Sandon receives over half a million pounds in funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund
We are delighted to confirm that this month, the National Lottery Heritage Fund has awarded us a grant of £558,268 towards the conservation of the monuments, wall paintings and stained glass windows in the church along with an early 17th Century Stuart Royal Coat of Arms. The Heritage Fund award is being matched in part by five other Trusts who have pledged to support the conservation work alongside The National Lottery Heritage Fund and the PCC of the church. They are the Leche Trust, Staffordshire Historic Churches Trust, the Benefact Trust and the Garfield Weston Foundation who between them have pledged £31,850 towards this project. The church is most grateful to the trustees of each of these trusts for their support and to the NLHF and to the National Lottery players.
As part of the activities hosted by the church which include tours, school visits and open days, many people visited the church this year on 14th September for a Heritage Open Day together with Ride and Stride. Visitors enjoyed guided tours of the church and churchyard, children’s activities, bell chiming, and warm hospitality aided by coffee, tea and home make cakes. Visits by individuals or groups can be arranged by contacting the church via its website www.sandonallsaints.com to see opening times or request a special visit.
