O what a day, from an overcast morning, to a sharp down pour about 1pm, and then miraculously sunshine! We couldn’t have asked for better weather.
It brought people out by the dozen; we had visitors from Australia and more locally, Stowe, Salt, Heywood, Hixon and Gentleshaw. The Hopton folk turned out in force as always. The team that set up in the morning was a dozen strong and had fun working out how to erect the gazebo’s without any instructions.
Once the fete opened the dog show went down a storm and there were some beautiful dogs there. Kate’s sheep took it all in their stride, quietly looking on.
Fred once again was the champion bean bag thrower and Rebecca guessed the name of the sheep.
The parking in Fred’s field was a blessing and the men and Julie dealt with the vehicles admirably.
As you know we always do cake, and did we have cake! Thank you to everyone who donated cake, served it and to all those who enjoyed it. It would be remiss of me not to thank Baljit and Annette in the kitchen . We got through 10 pints of milk - they never stopped.
Our grand draw, which many of you kindly supported, was drawn. We had one winner from Salt, one from Hopton and third place went to a lady in Stone.
