Originally built as a place for children to worship, the church building has existed for around two centuries.Today with a regular congregation of up to four very dedicated members of the church, the church family has reached a crossroads due to the pressures of the modern day and the needs of the future. If you live in Slitting Mill and have never heard of, or seen this church, why not take a look down the end of Church Lane, Slitting Mill. This is your village church with a history going back 200 years. The remaining members of the congregation want to try and keep going as long as they can, but are very aware there are no church members to take over from them in the near future, to keep the building running and maintained. With services twice a month @ 9am on a Sunday morning (usually weeks 2 & 4), a well-attended coffee morning on the first Wednesday of every month @ 10.30am and an annual Carol service in December, there is still worship, fellowship and community still happening here. But for how long? Please spread the word! The Christmas services offered at the Church this year are :-Tuesday 12th December: Carol Service - at 7pmSunday 24th December: Morning prayer - at 9amMonday 25th December: Holy Communion Service at 9amIf you would like to come and share worship with us here, come and help keep the building open, or just want to know more, do get in touch with Rev’d Cath Leighton on cmaleighton@icloud.com
We support our local schools, people suffering with poor mental health and isolated and vulnerable adults and many other groups. We do not receive funding from government or the Church of England. All costs of keeping the churches open and accessible to local people are met by members of the different congregations. Giving financially is a demonstration of commitment to the work of the church, to supporting the common good and to our discipleship. By giving in a planned way helps the churches to budget more efficiently. You can set up a Standing Order from your bank to the bank account of which ever church you would like to support very easily.
