The blue St James Church notice board was looking a bit the worse for wear but it has now been transformed and looks fantastic thanks to Nick of the Friends of St James. Here are the before and after photos- What a difference! If you are walking or driving past the church do take a moment to see the transformation for yourself.
Hi All- Long time no see- hope you and your family are well. You may know that the Acton & Bednall churches have been holding online services through the Zoom App, while the church buildings themselves are closed temporarily due to Covid-19. These services have really caught on with lots of people joining in so we are going to try a Messy Church goes Zoom to see how it goes- it won't be quite the same as our usual exuberant get togethers at the Community Centre but we can all join in online and sing a few songs ( you will not be heard), see a short video story, hear from Rev Delphine and see a craft activity that you can try at home- no food sorry! We hope you will join Messy Church goes Zoom- it is on Sunday 10th May at 3.30 pm and will probably last between 30 mins and an hour. All you have to do is install the Zoom App on your chosen appliance(phone, tablet, laptop or computer) and provided you have internet access it should work. Contrary to some reports in the media, Zoom is totally safe if, as we do, the right safeguards are applied. You can choose whether or not to be seen or heard ( and your sound will be muted by Roger during songs or if you get too noisy!)You do need to let Rev Delphine or Roger know in advance if you are going to join Messy Church goes Zoom so that about an hour before the start time you can be emailed details of the meeting ID and the password, needed to gain access.Roger has kindly agreed to help with any technical problems. The phone number to ring is 01785 714527 and Delphine's email is rev.delphine@btinternet.com.Hope you can join us on 10th May at 3.30 - please share this information with your friends, family and neighbours( but please don't share the Password info once you receive it)Sorry this is so long- take care, stay safe, God BlessDelphine, Roger, Eleanor and the Acton & Bednall Messy Church team
Sunday Zoom online service 3 May 11amWe are delighted that an increasing number of villagers, their friends and family are joining us on Sundays at 11:00 for our on-line live worship. But there’s room for more and we would love to see you, if you haven’t joined us yet. It’s easy to do, and you don’t even have to be seen or heard if you don’t want (if you are still in your ‘leisurewear’ at 11:00am) Those who are joining us will testify that seeing and speaking with 40+ friends before the service begins lifts the spirit in these troubled times. Rog is very willing to help anyone technically to get on line with Zoom and its free to use.Contrary to some reports in the media, its also totally safe if, as we do, the right safeguards are applied. You just have to install the Zoom App. Zoom asks for your permission for video and audio when you join. Let Rev Delphine or Roger know that you will be joining the online service for the first time and about an hour before the service starts you will be emailed the ID and password to gain access to the service. So provided you have access to the internet, any phone, tablet, laptop or computer will work. You can phone Roger on 01785 714527 if you have any technical difficulties. So come and give us a try -we will be delighted to see you. Blessings & love Delphine & Roger
Sunday on-line Zoom Service For those of you who haven’t joined us before its not too late to be part of our worship tomorrow. The context is Thomas, the one with the doubts, and we shall explore doubts, certainties and faith in this time of trouble. We are slowly building an understanding of how Zoom works, and making it safe, so tomorrow should be our best effort. If anyone needs any technical help to get online with Zoom, Rog is very willing to help. Please let us know either by email delphine.howarth@ifdev.net or by phone 714527 and we will joyously add you to our list. Yours. Roger & Delphine.Messy Church at home activity - all you need is a stone, paint, stickers and lots of imagination ( see attachment). - enjoy!
