Message from Rev DelphineNovember 11th is the day we stop at 11.00am for 2 minutes to remember all those who have given their lives, and those whose lives have been changed for the worse in wars that have ravaged and continue to ravage God’s beautiful world. Some people ask why God, who is all goodness, doesn’t do something! But He did. He sent His Son, Jesus, to show us how to live our lives. “ Love each other,” Jesus said, “ Love the Lord your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. And love each other”We can’t cure the world of its warring ways, but we can make sure that we personally live in love, and free from hate. Who knows, others may look at us and say, “ I want to be like that” and God’s love and His Kingdom of mercy and peace will come to a small part of His troubled world.God bless,Delphine
Messy Activity- Poppy Lantern
With Remembrance Day only a few days away why don’t you create a poppy lantern to light and remember all those affected by conflicts both past and present.
All you need is a jam jar, white baking parchment, red card, and red, green and black pens or paint plus a tea light.
First of all cut the right size of the baking parchment to go round the jam jar and then create your poppy pattern on it(see example). To make a large poppy try using a potato dipped in red paint and add a black centre.
Stick a band of red card at either end of the paper and attached your jam jar wrapper to the the jar with double sided tape.
Pop a battery operated tea light in the jar and when lit remember and give thanks for those who served in past wars and pray for a more peaceful world in the future.
Date for your diary- ChristingleThe Christingle will be held at St James’ Church Acton Trussell at 2pm on 24th December - see you then.
Best wishes fromEleanor, Rev Delphine and the Messy Church Team
