The plans to improve the facilities in St Giles’ Church are moving on, and a wonderful time was had recently sorting out the cupboards in the vestry and finding new homes for many of the unused items which were found there. Sets of anthem and hymn books have been given to two grateful local churches, and St Giles Hospice will benefit from many other books which are no longer required.
Building work on the extension for the new accessible toilet will be starting on Monday 3 June, and the whole improvement (refreshment point and flexible space at the back of church) should be finished by Monday 26 August. The timetable has been carefully managed to ensure that the church will be clean and available for every Sunday, but whilst internal works are happening it will not be safe to allow visitors into the church during the week. Services such as funerals will be able to take place as necessary.
Access to the churchyard will be by the gate adjacent to the church hall, due to building work on the existing vestry.
