Ash Wednesday focuses our heart on repentance and prayer, we are reminded through our worship that 'For dust you are, and to dust you shall return. (Gen 3.19). There is an element of confession, Holy Communion is offered and the sign of the cross made from the ashes of Palm crosses from Palm Sunday is placed on the forehead of worshippers as a sign of their mortality and penitence.
