2024 Heritage Open Days - Church Tours Available

Occurring
Saturday 07 September 2024, Sunday 08 September 2024, Saturday 14 September 2024 Saturday and Sunday at for 6 hours
Venue
Bisham All Saints
Address
Church Lane, Marlow Road, Bisham Marlow, SL7 1RW, United Kingdom

All Saints Bisham Church is nestled between the river and the old turnpike, the route of the Marlow flyer to London until it closed in 1888. Take a moment off your route to go down and sit by the river in the tranquil churchyard. Dating from the C12 with a Norman tower of chalk, The church was the place of worship for the Abbey family. The Bisham estate saw the Knights Templar and the Earls of Salisbury and was part of Ann of Cleves divorce settlement from Henry VIII. The heyday was in the 1500s with the Hoby family, here for 200 years, then the Vansittarts for another 200. Discover a treasure trove of court and political influence in the spectacular monuments which tell their tales. Contrast with the modern industrial copper of the Williams Chapel, another story. Bisham was the place to be, so why not visit? (It is in the Simon Jenkins book of 1000 best churches).

Full Church Tours organised for:
+ Saturday 07 September: 10:30 - 12:00, and 14:30 - 16:00
+ Sunday 08 September: 14:00 - 15:30
+ Saturday 14 September: all day using a self-paced audio tour that takes between 15 and 30 minutes.
10:00 - 18:00

Bisham All Saints

The twelfth-century church of Bisham stands in one of the most lovely reaches of the Thames. Harmony in its ancient beauty has been maintained as restorations have been made to the church over the years.

Whether you’re visiting Bisham and just passing through, or you are new to the area and are looking to find a new church, perhaps you are just starting to explore the Christian faith; we want you to feel welcome in All Saints and come to think of it as home. You will find plenty of information on this website about the church and what we believe and do, but if you want to find out more, we’re always happy to talk.
