In 2017 we passed churchyard maintenance responsibility to South Staffordshire District Council. Their proposed repairs to the churchyard walls and means of funding those repairs created a great deal of discussion - and misunderstanding - in the village. Since then, the Council has decided to fund the repairs from their closed churchyards maintenance budget and, at our request, has commissioned a detailed structural survey of the walls. The church architect has provided the Council with a detailed brief for a conservation-led approach to repair and the Council will use this to tender for the works contract. The Council expects to make a Faculty Application (church Listed Building Consent) to the Diocese shortly for permission to undertake the works.
