Carrie Blount, the local Places of Welcome Facilitator wrote this about her visit:
A great start to the weekend
‘The sun was shining on Holy Trinity Church, Heath Town for the reopening of their Place of Welcome on Saturday morning. The lovely weather meant that the Place of Welcome could spill outside into the grounds of the church. Tables and chairs were set up outside as well as inside and the choice was yours where to sit. People were chatting and catching up outside, while children were free to run around and volunteers took your order from the menu and served you at your table.
‘My husband and I really did receive a great welcome, people went out of their way to chat to us, and we felt it was a real treat for our tea and biscuits to be served to us! And, of course, this generous provision is completely free of charge and is for everyone, young and old – they even had activity bags to keep the little ones amused. Although we chatted outside for some time, we sat at table indoors and also had the pleasure of hearing some live music as the band rehearsed – it was a great start to the weekend!’
