Firstly, many apologies for not being able to send out a September Parish Magazine. The printing company we have been using for more than 20 years has somehow disappeared. They are not answering messages, texts or phone calls to the office or mobile. It is a small family company and we have become friends over the years so I am quite concerned about them. In the meantime I have written to about a dozen local companies for quotes. a few have replied but their prices are quite high. I was recommended a company by the producers of the Tutbury Village News. Their price was reasonable, a little higher than our previous company, but nowhere near what the local ones were quoting. So, our October magazine is currently with them and should be back within the week. Hopefully we will get back into a routine with them very soon. Here are the local church services for the next few weeks so that you can plan ahead.SERVICES FOR OCTOBER 2024 Sunday 6th October, Trinity 19 - Colour Green10.00 a.m. W4A Harvest Communion Tutbury10.00 a.m. United Holy Communion Hanbury Sunday 13th October, Trinity 20 - Colour Green10.00 a.m. Holy Communion Tutbury10.00 a.m. Harvest Sunday Worship Hanbury 10.00 a.m. Harvest Communion Newborough11.15 a.m. Harvest Communion Rangemore Sunday 20th October, Trinity 21 - Colour Green10.00 a.m. Morning Prayer Tutbury9.00 a.m. Holy Communion Draycott10.00 a.m. Holy Communion Hanbury10.00 a.m. Sunday Worship Newborough Friday 25th October – Colour Green7.00 p.m. Recharge Café Church Newborough Sunday 27th October, Bible Sunday - Colour Green10.00 a.m. Holy Communion Tutbury10.00 a.m. Holy Communion Hanbury 11.15 a.m. Holy Communion Rangemore Sunday 3rd November, All Saints - Colour Red10.00 a.m. W4A Holy Communion Tutbury10.00 a.m. All Saints Celebration Newborough6.00 p.m. All Souls Memorial Service Hanbury A gentle service of hymns and candle lighting. The service at St. Werburgh’s on 26th November was a fitting memorial to those who lost their lives in the explosion in the gypsum mine on 27th November 1944. We heard the voices of people who were there, telling of their memories of that time. Prayers were said and hymns were sung. The names of all who died were read out and remembered, followed by a two minute silence. It was Terry’s first service as our new Vicar – one that, I am sure, he will remember for a long time.
The Institution & Induction of The Reverend Terence James Williams took place at St. Werburgh’s Church Hanbury on the evening of Thursday 23rd November 2023. Terry was supported by his family and friends as well as folk from his previous parishes and members of the local congregations. The Mayor of East Staffordshire, Councillor Syed Hussain, was in attendance, together with a great number of clergy from around the area. People from all four of our local villages took part in the service, led by The Rt. Revd. Matthew Parker, Bishop of Stafford. It was truly a joyful occasion and we are all looking forward to Terry’s ministry.
We are grateful to all the local clergy who are stepping in to take services.
