On Wednesday 19th June at St John the Baptist Church, Armitage, WS15 4BA, at 7.30 pm, a service will be held, the key part of which is the official admittance of churchwardens as office holders of the diocesan bishop. During the service, the archdeacon also delivers a sermon called the 'archdeacons charge', the aim of which is to offer advice, encouragement and support to parishes in general and churchwardens in particular. Churchwardens have important legal responsibilities, but the office also has a vital spiritual, pastoral and mission dimension – the duty is to be foremost among the laity in the life and mission of the Church in the parish. We are pleased to support Fatmata Conteh as she takes up her role as Churchwarden at St Andrew’s Church. Please send your good thoughts and prayers for Fatmata, her family, all involved in the service, and for her ongoing role within the congregation.
