Rev. Zoe's next chapter

The Right Reverend Dr Helen-Ann Hartley, Bishop of Newcastle, is delighted to announce the appointment of The Reverend Zoe Heming as Residentiary Canon for Mission at Newcastle Cathedral in the Diocese of Newcastle.

Zoe is currently the Vicar of St Andrew’s Church, Aston, and the Enabling All Advisor (Disability Lead) for the Diocese of Lichfield.

Zoe, who will be installed at Evensong on Saturday 14 September at 4pm, says: “I am so looking forward to being part of the boldly inclusive mission and ministry of Newcastle Cathedral through the many ways their ‘Radical Welcome’ is offered to all people of this vibrant city and Diocese.

“Leaving behind all which God has blessed us with in the Lichfield Diocese will be difficult, but I am ready to start this exciting new chapter in my ministry in this special place.”

The Dean of Newcastle, Lee Batson, says: “I am delighted, and deeply grateful to God, that Zoe emerged as the unanimous choice of the panel to be the next Canon for Mission at Newcastle Cathedral. She brings to us a deep commitment to social justice, which undergirds our particular missional focus.

“Zoe will also bring to us insights on how to be a church that recognises and works to remove the barriers that prevent people from being able to belong to our community life as God desires them to be. This will enhance our commitment to be a place of radical welcome that empowers worth. We look forward to Zoe and her family joining us in the Autumn.”
