About Us
St Leonard's is part of the Church of England parish of Central Telford. You'll find us in Malinslee, to the south of Telford town centre.
Our Sunday services usually take place at 11.15am and our usual pattern is: Holy Communion on 1st and 3rd Sundays and Morning Worship on 2nd and 4th Sundays. On the 5th Sunday of the month we usually meet with the other churches in the parish for a United Service at 10.30am. To check details of our services, see here Children are always
welcome to attend on a Sunday, and there is an area for small children to play
in.
We are a small but faithful group of people who long to see God's kingdom come in Malinslee. Many of us live locally and we are committed to welcoming all in our local community into the church for our services, weekly activities and special events. We are looking to work with partners in the wider community to work together to building up community links and to serve those in our community. We also seek to work closely with other Anglican churches and churches of other denominations within the town.
Various activities for the community are run during the week. Jolly Tots of Malinslee, a group for parents and toddlers, is on Tuesday mornings from 9 - 11.30 am; an open Coffee Morning is from 10 - 12 noon on Wednesdays and the Knit and Natter group meets throughout the year except at Christmas from 1 - 3.30 pm on Thursdays. On Monday's we have a drop-in food bank.
St Leonard's Church was built in 1805 and is the smallest of only three churches in England designed by Thomas Telford . It has a Grade 2 listed octagonal exterior and was re-ordered in the 1970s. The interior is a large flexible space, more recently refurbished and in excellent condition, with good acoustics and an upgraded PA & ITC system. The space can accommodate large gatherings with numerous fairs and concerts in any normal year. We have a large car park.
We love to welcome families to church to celebrate their special occasions with us and will happily help anyone who wants to book christenings or weddings with us.
Our churchyard is closed to full burials but cremated remains can still be interred..
You are very welcome to join us for any of our Sunday services and activities during the week and we hope to see you some time! Do keep a look out too for special events that take place throughout the year. Please come and check us out for yourself!
