Weddings

You're getting married? Congratulations! We would love to help you plan your special day as you start your married life together.

A Church of England Wedding is an alternative to a Register Office Wedding, which is completely non-religious. A Christian wedding allows you to make promises to each other before God as well as your guests. You don't have to attend worship or be baptised in order to have your wedding in a church.

If you live in Blurton & Dresden Parish, you automatically qualify for a wedding at St Bartholomew's Church. Click here to check whether your postcode falls inside the parish. If you live outside our parish, there are other ways you can qualify to marry here:
* If either of you (or your parents in your lifetime) have ever lived in the parish for 6+ months
* If either of you were baptised (christened) in the parish
* If either of you confirmed your faith in the parish, or were prepared for confirmation by the parish
* If either of you (or your parents in your lifetime) have ever attended worship in the parish for 6+ months
* If any of your parents or grandparents were married in the parish

If you don't qualify through any of these connections, you can either apply for a Special Wedding Licence (which does incur a fee), or you can join us for worship for 6 months before planning your wedding with us.

Please come along to WELCOME HOUR at St Bartholomew's on the second Saturday of the month, held between 11am and 12 noon, to get the process started.
