June 19th was a special night for St John the Baptist. Not only was it the Archdeacons Visitation but our superb bell ringers rang a quarter peal of plain Bob Doubles. To the uninitiated, this involves changing the order of the bells 1260 times in 39 minutes - without stopping and without mistakes. Wow.Congratulations to Lance (Bell Captain), Tayeed, Linda, Brenda, Viv and Rupert.
On Thursday evening we rang a quarter peal. This means we change the striking order 1260 times without stopping which took 42min. The method we rang was Devon Place Doubles, and was new to all our ringers. It was an honour to ring and a great achievement by all our ringers. I believe about 1300 churches throughout the country also rang on the 6th. Many other churches rang on the Wednesday 5th. All the ringing is listed on website. Just type the word bellboard, click ringingworld bellboard. The team of ringers can be seen on our page - 'The bells, the bells'
