Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th October are the dates for the upcoming History display in Church. Both days commence at 11 a.m. Saturday we are there until 4 p.m. and Sunday until 3 p.m finishing with a Songs of Praise service. The theme for this event is 'Butterton, its people and its Homes - how things have changed over time'. We will be displaying census material covering 1841 to 1939, electoral rolls, trade directories and more. Do come along and share your stories and participate in this most interesting event.

Welcome to St Bartholomew's Church, Butterton, in the beautiful Staffordshire Moorlands.

We are a small worshipping community led by our Interim Priest in Charge Rev Jane Held.

There has been a church on the present site since its foundation in 1254. Parish Registers date from 1746. Various rebuilds have taken place over the years. The present building dates back to 1871. The building programme lasted two years. The east window and the spire were added a few years later as gifts in memory of a local family. The church is grade II listed.

Our Church's Mission Statement is:

“To be a beacon for Christ in our rural community as we seek to provide a place of hospitality, a sense of history and a source of hope and renewal in times of change.”

Our Safeguarding Policy 2024/2025 - The Parish of Butterton:

This Church is an inclusive, loving and caring community of Christians of all ages, and individuals. It provides a Christian presence in our Community, both in church, in our homes, with our friends and across our community. We have adopted the National and Diocesan Safeguarding Policies in full.
