Easter Dawn Vigil

Occurring
for 1 hour, 15 mins
Venue
Yarnton St Bartholomew
Address
Church Lane Yarnton Oxfordshire, OX5 1PY, United Kingdom

Our Dawn Easter Vigil begins just before the sun rises.
In our Easter Sunday our gospel reading begins "very early in the morning...while it was still dark" (John 20.1) we hear of the disciples heading to the tomb of Jesus to find that it is empty. Weeping at the tomb, Mary Magdalen becomes the first to encounter the risen Christ, who calls her by name. Jesus has been raised from death to new life. From the depths of despair and desolation, new Life and Hope emerges. Love is stronger than death.

Mary's announcement to the disciples, "I have seen the Lord" echoes through the centuries. You are warmly invited to join in our worship tomorrow. We are invited to bring our lives, with their complexities, sorrows and fears to the empty tomb. In faith we can trust that the Risen Jesus will be present, calling us by name, inspiring new life and hope.

Our Dawn Vigil is a traditional, reflective service with the lighting of the Easter Candle, renewal of baptismal vows, and Holy Communion.
