Maundy Thursday Eucharist with footwashing and vigil of prayer - with Junior Church

Occurring
for 1 hour
Venue
Yarnton St Bartholomew
Address
Church Lane Yarnton Oxfordshire, OX5 1PY, United Kingdom

Within our Maundy Thursday worship, we remember the Last Supper that Jesus shared with his disciples, in the Upper Room.

As we celebrate Holy Communion, we continue to be obedient to the words of Jesus at the Supper , to "do this in remembrance of me." (1 Corinthians 11.24) At the Supper Jesus washed his disciples feet, and gave them the "new commandment", to "love one another as I have loved you." (John 13.34)

There will be footwashing within our service, whilst at the end we have a vigil of silent prayer remembering Christ's poignant request to his disciples to keep watch with him.

Maundy Thursday offers a most special and moving act of worship. We remember the words from John's gospel that begin his account of the Last Supper: " Having loved his own who were in the world, Jesus now loved them to the end." (John 13.1)
