Sunday 9th March 2025
Lent begins in the wilderness. It is not a comfortable place—there is hunger, there is temptation, and there is the long, unsettling silence of things not yet restored. And yet, it is here that Jesus meets the struggle head-on, filled with the Spirit and strengthened by the very Word of God.
This Sunday, as we step into Lent together, we will also pause to mark the National COVID-19 Day of Reflection. It is a time to remember what has passed—the losses, the loneliness, the resilience—and to ask, as we must always ask, what it means to walk forward in faith. Revd. Richard will lead us through the service and Revd. Mark will offer a reflection on Luke 4:1-13, the story of Jesus' temptation in the wilderness. What can this passage teach us about enduring hardship? About the ways we are tested, shaken, and shaped by trials? And how does the presence of God sustain us when all else feels uncertain?
You are warmly invited to come, to bring friends and family, and to join us as we hold space for both remembrance and hope. Whether you are in a season of wrestling or renewal, whether you come carrying heavy burdens or quiet gratitude, know that you are welcome.
See you Sunday, Mark
