Sunday 27th October & Sunday 3rd November 2024.

Our next two Sundays fall on either side of two celebrations: All Hallow’s Eve (also known as “Halloween”) and All Saints Day (sometimes referred to as All Souls). Taken together these two festivals point us to the contrasting elements of dark-and-light, evil-and-good, loss-and-hope, life-and-death. All Hallow’s Eve is the last opportunity for the powers of darkness to run amok – to have their “fun” – before the inevitable breaking of dawn. On Sunday 27th, we will be looking at the blind man, who is literally brought out of darkness when he encounters the bright and morning star. Similarly, on November 3rd, we will be looking at the story of Lazarus, and exploring the role that God would have us play in seeing others move from death to life. As we continue to watch the leaves fall off the trees and prepare ourselves for the coming of winter, let us not forget that death is but only temporary. Soli Deo Gloria.

Every blessing, Mark
