Occurring
Wednesday 27 November 2024 Wednesday at for 1 hour, 15 mins
Venue Address
Topcliffe & Asenby Village Hall, Front Street, Topcliffe, YO7 3RJ
As winter approaches the regular Soup & Sweet lunch has now been replaced by Warm Hub lunches, which are generally more substantial.
The next Warm Hub lunch will be held at the Village Hall on Wednesday 27th November from 11.30 to 12.45pm. There'll be a selection of home-made meals, followed by puddings and tea or coffee. All are welcome. There's no set charge, but donations are welcome to help pay the rental cost of hiring the Village Hall and for essential food and drink items that must be purchased for each lunch.

Last week's lunch set a new record with 62 meals being served. In total £233 was raised and a donation of £50 was made to the Blue Cross animal shelter in Topcliffe. The balance helped pay the rent for the Village Hall and will help replenish food stocks in the kitchen. Any surplus will be added to the Warm Hub Community Fund.

Residents of Topcliffe and Asenby can have a meal delivered if they are housebound - either on a short-term basis because of illness, or longer-term. If you wish to have a meal on the day the Warm Hub is held, please get in touch with Karen Morley on 01845 577426.

If you are able to donate any prepared food or ingredients or would like to help in some other way, please get in touch with Karen Morley on 01845 577426 or Linda Carver on 01845 578014.

Safeguarding

The Gospel speaks of welcome for all, especially the most vulnerable, into a Church which affirms the value and dignity of every human and where those in positions of responsibility and authority are truly trustworthy. Being faithful to this therefore compels us to take with utmost seriousness the challenge of preventing abuse from happening and responding well where it has taken place.

We at St. Columba's church in Topcliffe parish are committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding contact person (see below).

Please note that we currently have no designated Safeguarding Officer, but if you have any cause for concern that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm, please contact one of the following:

John Phillips (Parish Safeguarding Contact Person), on 01845 577034

The Rev'd Mary Rolls, Area Dean, on [email protected] or 07877 213327

Rob Marshall, Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser (DSA) on 07914 668907, or [email protected]

The Local Authority on 01609 780780

If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services.
