Do join us for this celebration of our patron saint.

This year's Festival and History Day will be held on Sunday 9th June.

At 10.45am there will be a Festal Choral Eucharist led by Rev. Canon Steven Harvey during which the choir will sing movements from the Missa Secunda by Hans Leo Hassler (1564-1612).
Refreshments will be served after the service.

Shortly afterwards there will be a Barbecue Lunch with hot food being available from 1.15pm. Drinks, including wine, will be available along with 'bring and share' salads and puddings.
Everyone is very welcome to either or both of these events. Please give advance notice to John Phillips (01845 577034) if you intend to come to the BBQ so that we have some idea of catering requirements.

After lunch the usual tours of the church, tower and churchyard will take place, but for reasons of safety children will need to be at least ten years old to be able to climb the tower.

The day will close with a short peaceful service of Compline at 6pm

Safeguarding

The Gospel speaks of welcome for all, especially the most vulnerable, into a Church which affirms the value and dignity of every human and where those in positions of responsibility and authority are truly trustworthy. Being faithful to this therefore compels us to take with utmost seriousness the challenge of preventing abuse from happening and responding well where it has taken place.

We at St. Columba's church in Topcliffe parish are committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding contact person (see below).

Please note that we currently have no designated Safeguarding Officer, but if you have any cause for concern that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm, please contact one of the following:

John Phillips (Parish Safeguarding Contact Person), on 01845 577034

The Rev'd Mary Rolls, Area Dean, on [email protected] or 07877 213327

Rob Marshall, Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser (DSA) on 07914 668907, or [email protected]

The Local Authority on 01609 780780

If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services.
