Follow the stars this December and get Christmas off to a great start on Mill Green on Saturday 9th December. The fabulous festivities begin with the true story of Christmas, in front of St Mary’s Church. Performed by the youngest Wargrave thespians, the Nativity play at 4pm, tells of Mary & Joseph’s unique journey to Bethlehem, complete with visits from shepherds, kings and angels.

From biblical Bethlehem to wonderful Wargrave at 4.30pm we indulge in the Christmas spirit. Mulled wine and mince pies, hotdogs and hot chocolate will keep us warm and toasty, generously provided by our sponsors in return for a donation. A small pay bar from The Bull will offer beers and wine for the grown-ups and soft drinks.

Mill Green will be filled with Christmas music followed by the blessing of the tree before the official lighting at 5pm. Everyone is invited to sing around the tree.

The six-metre tree will be supplied again by local Wargravian Graham Trolley and other sponsors of the event include local builder Phoenix Roofing and Building Services, our brilliant village café Daisy Love, and Rollover Hotdogs.

New for 2023, we will also have three special prizes to win at our Christmas Raffle which has been kindly donated by Richard of Hurst:

1st – Christmas Hamper and Gutter cleaning
2nd – Window Cleaning both inside and out
3rd – Window Cleaning outside

Tickets are £1 and will be sold in advance from Daisy Love, The Bull and from St Mary’s Church (Monday – Thursday: 10am to 12pm & Sundays after the 9.45am service) They will also be available on the day and announced just after the carols.

Let’s get our village together and welcome an amazing family Christmas to Wargrave! Put Saturday 9th December from 4pm in your diary and tell all your friends and family.

Wargrave St Mary's

St Mary's is located in the heart of the large village of Wargrave and is beautifully situated beside Mill Green. It is the oldest (parts dating back to the 12th Century) and biggest of the three Churches in the Parish.

Our vision at St Mary’s is to be a church at the heart of our community, and our hope is that every Christian will be empowered at St Mary’s to flourish in ministry for the good of the whole community.

There are two services each Sunday: 8am and 9.45am, as well as Junior Church (0-3 years Crèche, 3-16 years Junior Church)

Close by, The Hannen Room and St Mary's Church Centre are within the churchyard for use throughout the year.
