Farleigh, St Mary
St Mary's is a medieval jewel. Built by Robert De Watville around 1080, it is largely unaltered. For nearly half the Christian Era, Robert's little church has stood in Farleigh, and the people of Farleigh and beyond have come to it to worship our Lord. We welcome all those who visit our church today.
Services at St Mary's are held in traditional language. Parish Communion is on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month, and Matins (from the Book of Common Prayer) on the 1st and 3rd Sundays at 9.30am. St Mary’s has a loop system for those who use hearing aids.
Usually in the summer (July and September), Afternoon tea with home made cake is also available in the hall and churchyard , and the church is open during the teas, so that visitors can look at this Grade 1 listed ancient church. Also in the summer, a service of Compline is held by candlelight each Sunday at 7.15pm, with a short talk, by one of a wide variety of speakers, on the life of a person of faith or character from the Bible.
The detached hall includes a well equipped kitchen and toilets and is available to hire for quiet days or others groups such as away days. Outside the church gate to the churchyard there is a large area for car parking
