The Eastbury church bells toll on Sunday morning, rung by Rosemary Black for half an hour before the lay service at 10.30, led by Paul Reynolds, in celebration of King Charles III’s coronation the day before. The church was almost packed to the gunnels. The organ bellowed, played by resident Craig Pilgrim. The large congregation sang heartily in response to Jerusalem, God Save The King & loudly hailed three cheers led by Paul & Charlie Barrow. Followed by raised glasses of Prosecco & shared donated canapé. Four school aged children attended & were gifted coronation mugs, the remaining children at clashing events promised to have theirs’ hand delivered. The celebration was photographed by Tobi Corny & only those present have the memory of how magnificent the singing was. Skilful flower arrangers decorated the church & most noteworthy Linda Maynard's literally crowned the font.
