On Palm Sunday, just as the crowds did all those centuries ago, we join Christians around the world in marking Jesus' arrival in Jerusalem with a joyful procession and waving palm crosses.

We are very sorry to report that Basil, the lovely Shetland pony who was to lead our procession up to and around the church tomorrow has got laminitis, a serious and nasty condition in his hooves, so will sadly be unable to join us. We all wish him a speedy recovery.
We are still going ahead, because processions are cool, but we will do things slightly differently. There are two IMPORTANT alterations:

Firstly, we WON'T be processing from the Chequers; just come to St. Helen's Church AT 11 AM.
Secondly, we will need a helper on the day...

We will be asking one of the children who would enjoy it to wear our donkey ears and tail. Just like with a real donkey/pony/ponkey, we hope they don’t bite or kick, but we won’t give them a big bag of carrots!

A family-friendly service of Holy Communion will be held after the procession, lasting for about an hour.

Saturday 20 December 2025 - Walking Nativity - 10h30 at The Chequers

Calling would-be angels, shepherds, kings, stars, sheep (maybe even camels)...

The Walking Nativity will be taking place this Saturday 20th in the carpark of The Chequers, where we will see if there is any room at the Inn...

Basil the ponkey will be there and will enjoy meeting all the children before the Nativity procession begins.

As last year, he will very likely join us inside the church also, to munch on his hay-net, whilst all the children dress up to form a Nativity tableau with Christmas songs and story.

No need to dress up as nativity costumes will be provided when we get to the church.

Hot chocolate with marshmallows, and other refreshments, will be provided for afterwards.

Everyone welcome!

Sunday 21 December 2025 - Service of Holy Communion - 09h30

On this  fourth Sunday in Advent there will the Benefice Service of Holy Communion using Common Worship starting at 9:30 am.

Berrick & Roke Christmas Fair 2025

🌲 STOP PRESS!

The Christmas Fair raised a magnificent £2765.60 towards maintaining and running our beautiful historic village church.

A massive 'Thank You' to everybody who came, and to those who cooked, served, poured, decorated, set trails, sold, operated competitions and so generously allocated an enormous amount of energy and expertise.

And a particular thanks to the terrific village children who got stuck in with running events, Christingles, and competitions.

What a wonderful village we live in – such bonhomie…

No wonder Santa and his Elf were delighted to fit Berrick into their very busy schedule!
