The regular routine and 'rhythm' for St Joe's during the month of August is somewhat different to many other churches! We have a period of 'sabbatical' (rest) from the usual Sunday morning services or activities, which allows those of us who lead, speak and arrange the services to have a break.
In addition, with our vicar, Ben continuing his own 3 month sabbatical, it provides a total break for everyone from our regular Sunday commitments.
However...
This doesn't mean we are all on holiday for the whole month and St Joe's 'ceases to exist' for 4-5 weeks!
We still encourage social, spiritual and significant (planned) interactions between the church family. We are #stillchurch during the school holiday weeks!
And we will be 'back with a bang' on Sunday 1 September, welcoming Ben back from his sabbatical, and kicking off the autumn term with new themes and activities - and faith that God will continue his good work in all of us...

St Joe's, Newton Leys

Hello, and welcome to St Joe's!  So, who are we…?

Informally: we are a “Church for those who don't ‘do church’. An extended family of sorts - in & out of each others homes.”

Formally: St Joseph’s (Church of England) church was formed in April 2017 to serve the new-build housing area known as Newton Leys, to the south of Bletchley and Milton Keynes. The church was started with the help and support of St Mary’s Parish Church in Bletchley. St Joe’s is officially recognised by the Anglican Oxford Diocese but continues, at the moment, to ‘come under’ the organisational and charitable status of St Mary’s Church.

How would we describe ourselves? A local, community church? Yes!  A new expression of church? Yes! A church for those who don't usually do church, or who have become a bit disillusioned with church? Yes!

We focus on a ‘missional model’, to informally but strategically share Jesus, life and community with each other - and anyone who wants to take this faith-journey with us. We meet two or three times during the month at the local primary school for Sunday morning services, and on other Sundays, and at other times, we organise a range of activities and events that fulfil and enhance our mission and calling.
