About Us
St Lawrence’s church was in a near derelict state when it was rescued and lovingly restored in the 1990s. It continues its traditional role as a place of Christian worship but is now also a very special venue for arts events in the Broadland area. It is home to several regular groups including art classes, pilates and the 1st South Walsham Guides. The centre offers a varied programme of concerts, exhibitions and craft events and can be hired as a venue for private functions. As part of the restoration, a Sacristan’s garden was created, planted with medicinal herbs and plants associated with monasteries and the Middle Ages. It provides a tranquil place for quiet reflection. St Lawrence’s and the Sacristan’s garden may be visited at any time during the day. The St Lawrence's Centre is a Registered Charity run by a management committee and supported by generous voluntary effort, gifts and donations and a thriving Friends’ Group You can support the Centre and at the same time enjoy reduced price tickets to concerts by becoming a Friend for just £10 per year for an individual or £15 for family living at the same address.
