About Us

Part of the Church of England Parish of ‘Dacre with Hartwith and Darley with Thornthwaite’, St Saviour’s (formerly St Osythe’s), Thornthwaite is the “mother church” of the parish, there having been a church here since perhaps AD 1409; standing as it does above the pack horse bridge on the monks’ route between Fountains and Bolton abbeys.

The delightful building now in place has served this local community since AD 1810, and currently provides for our small regular Sunday morning congregations. We meet at 6.30pm on the First Sunday of each month for Evensong (3pm Nov. to Mar.); at 11.00am on the Second & Fourth Sunday for Holy Communion.

The church is available each day for your own private prayer and worship, and we strongly encourage you to visit this quiet, simple little gem in the heart of the Dale. You will be very welcome in our worship or in your own time and prayer.
