The difficult times we live in are not times of resistance, but of faithfulness; not against someone, but for something. This is the time of our loyal witness to the reasons of the Gospel. At this challenging time, we join men and women of good will seeking justice and peace, and Christian communities around the world holding up in constant prayer all the innocent victims of so many conflicts and senseless, inexcusable acts of violence erupting in so many regions of the globe, and all those directly affected by the effects of climate change and other natural disasters. Our wounded humanity is covering our already wounded planet under a cloud of darkness. We pray that God may renew an act of creation and say again, "Let there be light".
Christian communities should be places where all people feel welcomed, respected and safe from abuse.
This Parish Church of St Martin, Potternewton is committed to encouraging an environment where all people, and especially children and those who may be vulnerable for any reason, are able to worship and pursue their faith journey with encouragement and in safety.
To this end we have adopted the House of Bishops' policy for safeguarding adults in the Church of England “Promoting a safe church” and the House of Bishops' Child Protection Policy “Protecting All God’s Children” as the basis for our own Church policy and practice document.
