Policy statement on Safeguarding Children, Young People and Vulnerable Adult
in the Dickleburgh and Pulham Team Ministry:
• It is the responsibility of all church members to do their best to prevent the physical, sexual, emotional, financial or spiritual abuse or neglect of children, young people and vulnerable adults and to report any abuse that is alleged or suspected.
• The Dickleburgh and Pulham ministry adopts the Church of England guidelines ‘Promoting a Safer Church’ as set out in the parish safeguarding handbook. This is available in the Benefice Office and from the Church Wardens. It is also available online at www.dioceseofnorwich.org Safeguarding policies and practice.
• The PCC of each parish, together with the incumbent, is the lead body and is responsible for the appointment of church workers, both paid and voluntary, in that parish.
• In order to comply with safer recruitment practise, church workers will be required to complete a confidential declaration form. Church roles that include direct responsibility for children, young people or vulnerable adults may require a DBS disclosure.
• Church workers will be expected to undertake the safeguarding training that is offered by the Diocese.
Safeguarding Officer for the Dickleburgh and Pulham Team Ministry
The person appointed to oversee the implementation of this policy is Reverend Norman Steer. He will report to the parish PCCs and the incumbent on the development of policy, monitoring and record keeping.

Reporting concerns of allegations of abuse
It is very important that any concerns or allegations of abuse are reported promptly.
If there is immediate danger or medical attention is required then 999 should be called.
Otherwise the information should be reported to the Benefice Safeguarding Officer, Norman Steer, on 01379 854245
