We would like to invite you and family members to our annual Commemoration Service of thanksgiving and remembrance for those who have died but are still very much in our thoughts. This year the service will take place on Sunday 5th November 2023 at 3pm.
This simple, reflective service will be a time to be still in God’s presence with the memories of our loved ones.
There will be formal invitations to the service sent to all those who have been bereaved recently and in order to manage attendance, please confirm whether you are able to attend and how many will join you from your family members.
During the prayers we will read the names of those who have died whom we wish to remember and have an opportunity to light candles in their memory. Please fill in the name(s) of your loved ones on the card provided and return it to the Parish Administrator, St Marys Church, Church Lane, Burghfield Village, RG30 3TG, email ([email protected]) with the name(s) or you can call on 07979 871608 . If you are unable to attend the service but would still like the name(s) to be read, just let us know and we will be sure to include them.
After the service there will be refreshments in the Parish Centre for all who would like to stay.
There will be church members available to talk or pray with you privately if you wish.

There is no time limit on grief, and many of us carry on for many years wanting to remember and give thanks for those who’ve been part of our lives. So please join us to remember your loved ones. If you have any special concerns, or you can’t come to the service but would still like to meet a member of clergy or a church member to talk or pray at another time, please feel free to contact us.

We look forward to seeing you.
With our love and prayers,
Glynn

St Mary's Burghfield

Hello and welcome!

If you’re new to St Mary’s or to Burghfield and Burghfield Common, we’d like to welcome you to our community. We hope that this page will answer some of your questions about church life in Burghfield.

If there’s anything else you’d like to ask, speak to Reverend Glynn or one of the Churchwardens.

When are the services?
We normally have one main service every Sunday at 10:00am. This is usually a Communion service with a mix of traditional and modern hymns. Our music group plays most Sundays, though we also use ‘a hymn box’ occasionally. We have refreshments after this service, when there’s an opportunity to meet newcomers and chat together. –

This service is currently being held in church and via Zoom to offer an opportunity for people to join in our worship from home.

Sunday@6 is a monthly evening service which takes place on the 2nd Sunday of the month at 6pm (followed by refreshments).  This is an informal service, of worship, teaching and prayer, all ages welcome.

All the details to join us for our worship can be found under 'Services' in our Pew Sheet.

On the third Sunday of the month we have Breakfast@Church at 09:00am which is an opportunity for anyone of all ages to have a light breakfast together (including bacon butties) and enjoy some fellowship before the 10:00am Service.

You are most welcome to come and have a look around St Mary's Church or to just sit and find some peace.   The Church is open during the day, every day of the week.

"The parish of Burghfield is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSOs. The Diocese of Oxford’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services."
