Multi Lingual Worship in a Multi-Cultural Community
On 10th June 2012, the membership of Leicester United Christian Fellowship officially became a Church of England congregation, and moved into what was the closed church of St Gabriel, Kerrysdale Avenue, Belgrave, now being known as The Church of All Saints.
All Saints, which is drawn principally but not exclusively from the local Indian & Pakistani communities, meets every Sunday (from 17th June) at 3pm for Christian worship and fellowship. Worship fuses together many of the languages spoken in Belgrave including Punjabi, Urdu, Hindustani and English, together with a rich blend of musical styles. Refreshments are always served after each service.
All Saints is made up of Christians and those exploring faith from across the generations from the very young to the more senior, all united in faith, love and fellowship.
Everyone is welcome to come along to any service at All Saints. If you would like to explore some aspect of the Christian faith, what it means to be a follower of Jesus or what it means to join the worshipping community at All Saints, contact pastor and evangelist Sunny George on 07701 092810 or by e-mailing him on the contact us page.
More about Sunny George and All Saints
Mr Sunny George, who grew up in the district Gurdaspur of Punjab, India and moved to Leicester 6 years ago with his family, has led the fellowship for the past five years and holds the license of the Bishop of Leicester. His grandfather being a Sikh and grandmother a Muslim, while his wife was a Hindu before all of them accepted Jesus as their Personal Saviour at various points of their lives. He received a Master's Degree from Christian College Batala and an M.Phil from the University of Amritsar in 1980 and 1984 respectively, and thereafter taught at Engineering College Ludhiana till 2006 when he moved to the UK along with his three minor boys to join his wife Mrs Pawan George, a Registered Nurse. Like Jonah, God talked to him through a storm when he realised the Lord's Calling upon his life, culminating in the birth of Leicester United Christian Fellowship, a multi-lingual and multi-cultural fellowship of Christians on Easter 2007 in the Harrison Road Methodist Church, Leicester. He had his tryst with destiny on 1st April 2008 when his whole family became confirmed as Anglicans at the blessed hands of the Rt. Revd Bishop Tim Stevens who, along with the Ven Richard Atkinson (now the Bishop of Bedford), played a crucial and pivotal role in the shaping of his career in Christ.
The Assistant Bishop of Leicester, Christopher Boyle, who conducted the welcome services at both the Cathedral and All Saints on 10th June, says, “I believe we need the presence of Leicester United Christian Fellowship in the Diocese of Leicester. We need each other's vision of Christ to correct and enlarge and focus our own. Only together are we complete in Christ. The formalisation of the fellowship will bring them fully into the Church of England.”
