How to get help, How to help.

All over the country people are struggling with the increasing cost of food and fuel. This is true in our villages and within our community.

This page is a guide to getting help if you are struggling and if you can help you can scroll down to find out the best ways to help.

Are you struggling with living costs?

If you are struggling to find food for yourself and your family, please do not feel ashamed. We know what it is to feel out of control and to lie awake worrying how to pay the bills.

Do speak to someone

There are people willing to listen without judgement and offer the support you need. We know that worries over money are a key cause of stress and mental ill health, please talk to someone who can help.
Our clergy will listen to you in confidence we will do our best to get you the help you need.
You can ring our office on 01844 291108 – you can speak to someone weekday mornings or leave a message with a name, phone number and where you live.

Everyone is welcome to our free Café in the Park in Stone Recreation Ground,
Every Tuesday and the First Saturday of every month 10am-12noon.
There is always someone to help.

FoodCycle Aylesbury welcomes anyone to attend as a guest and enjoy a FREE hot meal. No need to book. Just turn up on the day!

An all ‘under one roof’ advice hub is open on Tuesday mornings to anyone offering advice on issues from housing and benefits to help getting online.

To get help from Foodbanks

Some of the foodbanks require a referral. You can get a referral from a housing support officer, support worker, health visitor or Citizens Advice or other professionals. We may be able to help.

There is also a Community Larder open on Thursdays 2.30pm – 4.30pm in the URC/Methodist Church in the Upper High Street. It has a free café and low-cost food scheme for all.

You will need a referral – ask your support worker, housing association, health visitor etc. to phone or email for you. We may be able to help.

We may be able to pick up food for you from the Storehouse – please ask.

We collect food for the Vineyard Storehouse in Cuddington and Haddenham churches :
Please check what is needed here
Please consider giving money directly rather than buying specially for the Foodbank.
There are also 2 collection points in Stone – the garage and the Methodist Chapel, Eythrope Road.

Money

Foodbanks rely on money to buy food they are short of, pay the energy bills and employ workers enabling efficient working. Donations can be enhanced by Gift Aid.

Volunteer

Every Foodbank relies on volunteers for jobs from collecting donations from shops to packing up food boxes.
