This annual service is part of St Edmund's approach to providing comfort and help to bring restoration to the bereaved.
In the Bible we hear of two specific occasions when Jesus was “moved to compassion” in the face of family grief (the stories of Lazarus and the Widow of Nain). The scriptures are full of exhortations to care for and support “widows and orphans”.
This service is an opportunity for those who are bereaved, whether this was a recent event or more distant time-wise, to feel Jesus’ compassion and receive the message of Christian hope.
All welcome
