St Germans: St Germans Priory

Welcome to the St Germans Group Parish, here in South East Cornwall.

The St Germans Group Parish is four churches in one parish being: St Germans Priory in St Germans itself, St Nicolas church in Downderry, St Luke's church in Tideford and St Anne's church in Hessenford. Further information about each church can be found on the relevant ACNY page. The parish is part of the benefice with the parishes of Antony and Sheviock.

The church is open for regular services - please see 'Services and Events'.

The pattern of services for the church is shown in the calendar, though there may be occasional variations. The church is open daily for visitors and for private prayer.

A brief description of St Germans Priory, the nominated parish church within the Group, can be found below. If you'd like to know more about the other churches please visit their separate A Church Near You pages or look on our website.

The church of St Germanus, part of the original priory, in the village of St Germans in south-east Cornwall is one of the finest, oldest and historic parish churches in the county, and one of the oldest buildings still in use for its original purpose. Set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and at the heart of the St Germans Conservation Area, the church is of exceptional architectural, art historical, archaeological and historic significance which is reflected in its Grade 1* Listing.

Parking is generally limited to on-street parking on the road above the church; for those with limited mobility there is a small amount of space outside the church - drive carefully through the lych gate down to the west door of the church.

St Germans marks the start of the Cornish Celtic Way - please refer to separate item of this name for details.

Please note the church is generally cool (we're working on heating ideas) so even in the summer please bring a jacket or some kind of cover up in case of need. In the winter wrap up well.
