The Plough Sunday service at Tremaine saw a good range of farm machinery and garden tools blessed, along with seed and soil. Champion ploughman, Anthony Retallack, had brought his competition tractor and plough, an International with Ransomes match plough, his grandson, Alfie Hollington’s Ferguson TE20 with Ferguson plough came and Tim Hopper brought his Massey Ferguson 35 with Ferguson plough. Tom Hopper brought his quad bike a Quadzilla QZ300 ATV. Tim Hopper, Kate Gilead and Tom Hopper read the Bible readings and Alfie and Emily Hollington and James Hopper read the prayers over the farm machinery, seed and soil. Verna Jones and Pamela Melville accompanied the hymns. Local Worship Leader, Caroline Stone, led the service. Afterwards there was coffee and cake and a lot of chatting over the ploughs and the congregation took home the seed that had been blessed, a mixture of vegetable and flower varieties, to grow at home.
